"Human and the Sea" Exhibition @ horizonte Zingst
Photo Series "White Trash" for the BFF encouragement award 2017 presented & supported by horizonte Zingst Environment Photofestival, Berufsverband Freie Fotografen und Filmgestalter, Olympus & LowePro The theme "Human and the Sea" motivated Said to travel to Otaru on the Island of Hokkaido in the northern Japan. He explored the coast of Ishikari Bay in the vicinity of the historic port city on the lookout for environmental villains. At 14 degrees below freezing, Said captured images entirely unexpected from a higly developed country. According to Said, what he witnessed was mostly likely an act of desperation by the people responsible for removing unexpectedly large amounts of snow. Japan is far away - what does this problem have to do with Europe? Is it important to appreciate the global danger of marine plastic pollution. With this in mind, the symbolic responsibly with our environment. Every plastic bag is one too many, all unnecessary packaging should be avoided in order to reduce the amount of waste requiring disposal. The message of the photographs is clear: The oceans should not be used as the world`s dumping grounds. Significant changes in environmental awareness are absolutely essential.
